In this series of “Small Business Success” blogs, we’re talking about using your stories to attract clients and take your business into major abundance and prosperity. The fantastic part is that you don’t have to “invent” yourself or create an artificial image or brand. You are what you were born to be, so tell your story!

Small Business Success: Practical Tips for Using Stories for Connecting with Clients

Now here are some practical tips for getting started:

• Don’t be paralyzed by the fear that you’re not a “born storyteller.” We’ve all been telling stories all of our lives, and even the most basic tale is more interesting than a list of features and qualities.

• Remember the simple elements of a story: a hero has a problem; include a beginning, middle and end.

• Use stories to illuminate the heart of your business. If you find yourself thinking or saying, “It’s hard to explain,” that might be because you’re trying to capture an intangible truth into finite words. Often a simple story can reveal the truth much more effectively.

• Be prepared with questions that will invite your client to tell her own stories, before your work begins (revealing her concerns), during your association (shining a light on any weak areas), and after your work with her is complete (allowing you to learn from her, and giving you fabulous stories to share with future prospects. PS – If your client raves about your good work, be sure to invite her to write a testimonial to add to your website or contact materials!

Why am I so confident that you’ll be successful if you just focus on the joy of the process of sharing your story and trusting your passion and purpose? Casey Hibbard, author of Stories That Sell: Turn Satisfied Customers into Your Most Powerful Sales and Marketing Asset, writes, “Storytelling lies at the heart of human experience – a compelling form of personal communication as ancient as language itself.” Tell your story, and you tap into the core of human communication. If you’re within your purpose and you’re the right energetical match for the client, your small business success will follow.

Are you hesitant to speak up to your prospective clients because you feel like you’re being “pushy”? Learn how to connect to prospects and attract 6-figure income or more without feeling like you have to sell. You can have small business success now! Heather,

Thanks so much for the great tip on using customer stories and mentioning Stories That Sell!

There’s so much more credibility in featuring the customer’s voice versus the vendor’s.

    All the best,
    Casey
